
Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL)
Congratulations you have discovered the first step in your aviation adventure!
With this licence you will be able to fly a Single Engine Land Aircraft up to 5700 kg (12,500 lbs). Additional ratings can be added to this licence which include Night, Instrument, Multi-Engine and Single-Engine Sea-Plane Ratings.
Pre-requisites:
- must have a Current Medical (minimum Category 3) for the flight test
- Minimum 17 years of age (14 for first solo)
Training Requirements:
There are 5 components to a private licence you will need to complete in order to get your licence.
- A minimum of 40 hours of pilot ground school completed
- A pass of the Transport Canada PPAER pilot written exam
- The completion of 45 flight hours (flight experience requirement)
- A pass of the PPL flight test with a Transport Canada examiner

Applicants shall complete a flight test to the standard outlined in the Flight Test Standards by Transport Canada.
